Trends in Nonprofits' Response to Current Economic Conditions

Last week I attended the North Dakota Association for Nonprofit Organizations (NDANO) Annual Conference and heard of some ideas and solutions for nonprofits wanting to stretch their dollars for operating expenses. One of the trends that is starting to happen is that more and more organizations are having their support services, such as accounting, fundraising, and human resources shared by several nonprofit organizations. This allows them to partner with organizations and reduce their overhead costs, leaving them with more dollars to spend on serving their clients. It will be interesting to see how new ideas evolve and are put into action in response to the economic crunch nonprofits are facing.
