Winning Contest Entry #5

Below is the fifth winning entry in our Blog FUNdraising contest.

“The MOST Amazing Race” – Salvation Army (Roseville, MN)
“The MOST Amazing Race” is an official event of the Minneapolis Aquatennial in July and leads teams of two on a large-scale race around Minneapolis. This annual fundraising event engages a new and younger demographic with the Salvation Army and benefits the Salvation Army’s Bed and Bread Club®, which helps alleviate hunger and homelessness in the Twin Cities. Over $165,000 has been raised since the event started in 2006!Patterned after the CBS show “The Amazing Race,” this scavenger-hunt-like-race includes a qualifying event, the morning of the actual race day. The qualifying event narrows the field down to 20 teams, who compete in “The MOST Amazing Race” that afternoon. Up to five teams who have raised a significant amount of money can automatically qualify for the final race. From the starting line, the final teams will be given a clue leading them to a checkpoint somewhere in Minneapolis. They can only use Metro Transit for transportation throughout the race. Upon arriving at the various checkpoints throughout the day, they will be required to complete a task in order to receive the next clue. Tasks would be either physically or mentally challenging, and could involve tedious activities, trivial contests, or food challenges. The first team to reach the finish line wins the grand prize of $5,000 courtesy of Wells Fargo. The top fundraising team also receives a significant prize.
