Giving Back: Bremer Bank Employees Donate More Than 160,000 Volunteer Hours in 2009

Bremer Bank employees donated more than 160,000 volunteer hours to their communities in 2009, according to the fifth annual internal company survey. In total, the company’s approximately 1,860 employees logged volunteer hours that were the equivalent of $3.3 million dollars, based on a formula from the Independent Sector, which values an hour of volunteer time at $20.25.

The volunteer contributions in Bremer communities in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin were in addition to the nearly $30 million in direct financial contributions that the company and the Otto Bremer Foundation made in 2009.

“Volunteering is an integral part of the Bremer culture because we believe in building healthy communities by partnering with them,” said Stan Dardis, chief executive officer of Bremer Financial Corporation. “Each year we conduct this survey and the results never cease to amaze me. The commitment to communities that our employees demonstrate on a yearly basis is remarkable. I thank all employees for their passion, dedication and spirit.”
