Building Blocks for a Good Life

When people do not have the basic building blocks they need for a successful life, it hurts them, their families, and our entire community. What hurts others today will hurt all of us tomorrow.

Our United Way Funding Model is now focusing on specific issues in our community as they relate to the building blocks for a good life.

They are:
1. Education, helping children and youth achieve their learning potential.
2. Income, promote financial stability and independence across the life cycle.
3. Health improving people's health.

I've served on the United Way Allocations Committee for several years and am impressed with this new proactive approach of identifying specific issues that face our community and identifying the underlying causes.
