Are There Too Many Nonprofit Organizations?

I came across a blog article from Linda Crompton, President & CEO of BoardSource that solidified some thinking around the surge of new nonprofit organizations. With the start of new organizations comes the opportunity for new and innovative approaches in addressing issues facing our communities. With that said however, it is important that the formation of new organizations comes with a vigor analysis as to the feasibility, effectiveness and whether or not opportunities exist for becoming a part of an existing organization doing similar work.

As Linda Crompton states in her blog and I’m in agreement, “…..just because we have an idea and a mission and a great heart, does not mean we need to start our own new organization.” To see the full blog for better understanding and context, go to http://boardsource.wordpress.com/2010/05/18/are-there-too-many-nonprofit-organizations.
