St. Cloud Hospital Receives $300,000 Gift from the Otto Bremer Foundation and Bremer Bank

A fundraising campaign for St. Cloud Hospital’s new building addition, intended to raise $21.7 million, has been generously supported by Bremer. St. Cloud Hospital received a combined gift of $300,000 from the Otto Bremer Foundation and Bremer Bank in support of the hospital’s Caring for Generations Capital Campaign.

“St. Cloud Hospital is extremely pleased to count Bremer among our partners in this project,” said Dr. Terry Pladson, president and chief executive officer of CentraCare Health System. “This exciting project is laying the groundwork for a transformation of the medical care delivery system over the next 50 years in Central Minnesota.”

CentraCare decided to submit a grant request following a tour of the hospital with members of Bremer Bank, the Otto Bremer Foundation and CentraCare. The tour along with several additional strategy meetings were organized by Bremer Bank Nonprofit Resource Specialist Kathy Grochow.

"St. Cloud Hospital has historically demonstrated a focused approach to rational growth in order to better serve its communities,” said Charlotte Johnson, an Otto Bremer Foundation trustee. “This is a well-considered, well-executed campaign that aligns with the Foundation's vision to help build healthy and vibrant communities."

CentraCare, which owns and operates St. Cloud Hospital, is investing $225 million to build a 360,000 square-foot addition to the Hospital. In addition to the gift, Mike Mavetz, senior vice president & Business Banking sales manager for Bremer Bank in St. Cloud, has been diligently working on this capital campaign as one of the campaign chairs. He hopes that this gift from Bremer will hopefully inspire others to give toward this campaign.

“Bremer is committed to building healthy communities through partnerships,” said Tom Rickers, Bremer Bank President. “Teaming with our owner, the Otto Bremer Foundation, and St. Cloud Hospital is a great example of a partnership that enhances the overall health of this community.”
