A Culture of Community Service

As a financial institution, we measure lots of stuff. Things like loan volume, net interest margin, referrals sold, return-on-equity, market revenue, etc.

As a Bremer Bank, and part of the Bremer organization owned by The Otto Bremer Foundation, it's also our culture to be involved in our communities; to contribute our employees' time and talents and measure progress there too.

Recently, our Willmar, Marshall, Redwood Falls Bremer Charter employees took a few minutes to look back on first quarter 2011 measurements and accomplishments. The Bank is doing well. Our employees' volunteerism in our communities is also doing really well.

Here is a partial list of what we've been up to so far in 2011:

For community causes: bowling; cooking; walking; reviewing United Way agencies; selling daffodils; helping people file income tax returns; teaching elementary students about money; teaching college students about credit & debt; helping out with ECFE/future kindergartener activities; organizing fundraiser rummage sale; helping at church suppers; feeding hospice residents & families; working on nonprofit boards & committees of all kinds; and even donating our own blood to make our communities healthier.

It's been fun and rewarding. We're looking forward to keeping it going in the second quarter.

Lois Schmidt, NRS, Willmar Charter
