Tip of the Day: Using Stories to Persuade

Harvard Business Review offers a management tip of the day. There is even an app for it if you want to receive it directly. A recent tip makes sense for nonprofits too: Use Stories to Persuade:

Stories are an effective way to convince others of your point of view. Here are three tips for shaping and telling a story that influences:

1. Know your message. Underneath a good story there must be a point. Weave your narrative around it.

2. Use the right example. Your story should center on a character that your audience likes or can relate to.

3. Support with facts. It is only effective if there are facts and figures to back it up.
