Finding Financial Refuge

I recently came across this information posted on the African Development Center (ADC) of Minnesota's web site regarding the many organizations that have helped immigrants new to our communities learn about our financial system. One of these organizations is Bremer Bank, which in July was part of a financial literacy workshop held in St. Cloud.

It is quite evident that while most Somalis and other African immigrants live in the Twin Cities, many have located to rural Minnesota by attraction to job prospects in the food and meat-processing industries. Since 2000, there has been massive influx of African immigrants/refugees into St Cloud, Willmar, Rochester, Owatonna, Faribault, and Marshall, thus raising a huge demand for socio-economic integration amid little ethnic or racial diversity.
