Cultivate our Cultures

Cultural Diversity Resources, Mujeres Unidas (Women United), Luminata, Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, and the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center presented Pangaea—Cultivate Our Cultures, at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead in November.

The event, in its 12th year, is a local multi-ethnic showcase of music, dance, culinary arts, and children’s activities. It celebrates our community’s many diverse traditions and cultures. Handmade items and ethnic foods were available for sale. New this year was an international wedding fashion show, and a children’s parade of nations.

The activity was funded by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation and other local sponsors. Many of the participating groups receive funding from the Otto Bremer Foundation. The event was free and open to the public, but a donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit the clients of a local food pantry brought in much needed food.
