Responsibility: Part of the Board Director Job Description

Consider this... What people or organizations are you responsible for or to? What do you do for these people or organizations? What people or organizations are responsible for you and your well-being? What do they do for you to manifest their responsibility to you?

Usually we think of our family members, such as our children and our parents. Just as parents are the legal and moral guardian of children, the board of directors are the moral and legal guardian of the nonprofit organization that they serve and are responsible for the organizations current and future welfare. This is an important message for each board member to understand as they serve as a board of director. Board self evaluation is important as we move forward with any organization.
