Many of you asked us to share all the ideas that were entered in our Bremer Blog FUNdraising Contest, and we decided to do just that. Thanks again for your entries and your willingness to share.
St. Croix Valley YMCA (Hudson, WI)
Garage Sale: Organize a community-wide garage sale. The organization provides all the marketing, promotion and logistics. Each participating residence holds their own garage sale at their home. The organization promotes with lawn signs, newspaper ads, etc. and charges each participating home a fee for the service.
"Ask Event": The organization holds a dinner sponsored and paid for by donor(s). Each of the volunteers from the organization hosts a table and is assigned to bring non-donor guests to the event. The event conducts a program demonstrating the organization’s mission and impact to the community. Live and silent auctions are conducted. Individual recipients of the organization give testimonials and create awareness and a compelling case. At the end of the evening, each guest is invited by a key volunteer to make a pledge to the organization by filling out a pledge card and putting it in an envelope. The table host collects the pledges and turns them in to the organization. Very effective when another donor(s) is willing to match the pledges that come in.
