UND Center for Community Engagement

Do you remember the legend of the hungry travelers who started soup from a stone and convinced villagers to contribute what they could, resulting in enough for everyone?

This is the theme The University of North Dakota's Center for Community Engagement is using for its Stone Soup luncheon and 4th annual civic engagement award program on Friday, November 6th.

UND's Center For Community Engagement assists in making project "matches" between community needs and university resources. They help to improve Grand Forks and rural communities through community-university projects and partnerships. The Center was launched in 2004 to link academic resources with community needs.

The Center coordinates and supports opportunities for faculty and students to learn from and with nonprofit organizations, rural communities, tribal communities, and other public partners in the state. It works with departments, faculty, and students across campus, coordinates activities with other units with relevant teaching, research, and service missions, and develops relationships with public and community partners.
