Medica Foundation

I had the privlage of attending an informational session hosted by the CentraCare Foundation in St. Cloud recently regarding the Medica Foundation. The Medica Foundation provides funding for community-based initiatives and organizations that address the underlying causes and factors inhibiting optimal health. The primary focus is to provide seed money for new, innovative programs or projects to the delivery of health care that would have a likelihood of creating systemic change and that may reduce disparities. They will also fund the expansion of an existing project such as geographic or demograhic expansions. Except for the “Organizational Core Mission Support,” the foundation does not provide operating support.

The Medica Foundation is another great resource for rural Minnesota projects to address community needs. To find out more information and the various deadlines for their four funding priorities, go to their website at www.medicafoundation.org.
