Are You Getting Engaged?

Earlier this month a couple dozen nonprofit managers and volunteer coordinators took time to learn about or advance their learning about social media outreach by attending the June program offered by the Minnesota Office of Volunteer Administrators (MAVA) and Southwest/West Central Volunteer Connections Network in Willmar.

What's clear is that we're all on different levels of the learning curve with younger people generally being farther along in using and being comfortable with social networking tools like Facebook and Twitter. But Baby Boomers are quickly gaining knowledge and skills as they open personal and organizational social networking accounts for themselves and their organizations. We heard that 3 out of 4 Americans use social networking technology, and two-thirds of the global population is engaged in this way.

MAVA has a great resource page to help us keep learning, growing and reaching out with social media. Check it out!
