Diversifying the Board

Wanted to share this one tidbit of information with all of our readers:

From BoardSource Newsletter: Diversifying your board’s composition is more than the “right” thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do. When you bring together individuals who think differently, have had different experiences, and aspire to ideals from different directions, you are composing a team that has the potential to make a difference. You won’t realize that potential; however, unless you are inclusive. Inclusiveness implies that you fully welcome and integrate the principle of diversity – you walk the talk. Check out sample documents and guidelines on the Denver Foundation site to help our board tackle this tough issue at: http://www.nonprofitinclusiveness.org/sample-documents.
