Leave a Legacy

The most amazing opportunity recently rolled out in the Breckenridge/Wahpeton area in November. The local Leave a Legacy group (comprised of 6 local nonprofit leaders and Bremer Bank) worked with Scott and Jim Holdman of MOD Fundraising, trainers for the Impact Foundation's Impact Institute to develop a Charitable Giving Catalog. Seventeen local nonprofits have a page in the Catalog showcasing their mission, a specific financial need and photographs that symbolize their constituents and the work they do in the community.

The 1,500 Catalogs were distributed to local businesses and agencies in Richland and Wilkin counties by volunteers. Community members can give to as many organizations as they would like in one check with the Richland Wilkin United Way serving as fiscal agent. United Way will distribute checks in December and January to the organizations which received funds. You can view the actual catalog online. The online catalog will be available for a short time.

What a great way to highlight nonprofits in the community, help the community understand their financial needs and then provide a vehicle for finding potential donors. It looks to me like it could be a very Merry Christmas for our well deserving Nonprofits!!!
