 From the Hudson Star Observer:
The Otto Bremer Foundation has awarded United Way St. Croix Valley a $72,415 program development grant. The grant will be used to develop giving in Polk County and bolster contributions in Pierce and St. Croix counties through a matching grant challenge and the use of Resource Development Managers.

“Our goal is to increase local support so that vital community services are available for everyone who needs them,” said John Coughlin, United Way St. Croix Valley Executive Director. “Our organization has grown in geographic coverage area but not in terms of staff size. We began covering Pierce County following a 2006 merger and began covering Polk County in July 2010.”

The new Resource Development Manager for Polk County is Kent Tollakson. His efforts are directed to increasing the presence and effectiveness of United Way St. Croix Valley within Polk County.

The Otto Bremer Foundation is a charitable trust which uses the earnings from its assets to support nonprofit organizations. A majority of its assets are invested in Bremer Financial Corporation the ownership of which is shared with Bremer bank employees.

The mission of United Way St. Croix Valley is to unite communities, focus resources and inspire people to measurably improve lives in western Wisconsin. For more information on United Way St. Croix Valley, go to www.unitedwaystcroix.org or call (715) 377-0203.
