Riverwood to Host Groundbreaking Program for Hospital Expansion

With the start of its 18-month construction project for a $21 million hospital expansion this spring, Riverwood Healthcare Center will mark this occasion with a groundbreaking program on Wed., May 11, 5 to 7 p.m.

Otto Bremer Foundation awarded a grant to Riverwood Healthcare Center for $300,000 in January 2011. To improve access to healthcare services in Aitkin County through the expansion of the Riverwood Healthcare Center.

The public is invited to attend to learn about the expansion project and how it will help meet the growing and changing healthcare needs of local residents. The centerpiece of the project is converting from semi-private hospital rooms to 25 all-private rooms. Other major renovations include adding five infusion bays for chemotherapy and other therapies just off the emergency room, enlarging the surgery waiting room and adding two consultation rooms, and the addition of a two-story administration wing.

At the groundbreaking program, Riverwood Foundation will kick off its capital campaign called "Better Together" with a goal of raising $2.2 million in community support for the hospital expansion project. Riverwood will also recognize major donors and those who are directly involved with the planning and execution of the expansion project.
