Never Enough Grant Writing Training

One thing I’ve learned in my position as Nonprofit Resource Specialist is that nonprofits can never get enough grant writing training. A great number of the nonprofits I’ve worked with over the past six + years have questions about it, are uncomfortable with it and/or want more training. Let’s face it, most nonprofits don’t have grant writers on staff so what happens is, someone in-house ends up with the job and they don’t consider themselves experts.

Prior to my coming to Bremer, I was thrown into writing grants for a small nonprofit, without any experience. It intimidated and scared me. I attended some trainings, and then most importantly, jumped in and did it!

I’ve had the opportunity to read lots of grants in the past six years, and learn more about the process and decided it was time to develop a Basics of Grant Writing Workshop for the nonprofits in my area.

The workshop is for those with little or no experience and contains information on 1) Dealing with fears 2) Importance of research 3) Components of the actual application using the MN Common Grant Form 4) Otto Bremer Foundation guidelines.

The two workshops coming up in August are:
August 18 – 10 a.m. – Noon at the Bremer Bank in Breckenridge.
August 25 – 10 a.m. – Noon at West Central Initiative in Fergus Falls.

Workshops are limited to 25 people.

Holly,

So glad to hear you are offering these trainings. Learning how to be more effective and clear in communicating challenges, opportunities and new pathways (all necessary for new grant writers) is essential to success in securing grants.
