Going the Distance

Nonprofit practitioners I work with in southwest and west central Minnesota often hear me say that my work as a Bremer Nonprofit Resource Specialist is to help nonprofits with statewide missions – many of them based in the Twin Cities – remain true to their promise of statewide service. Specifically, I work with rural nonprofit organizations that are 100, 200, 300, 400 or more miles from others be as familiar and feel as close to their staff and services as nearby metro nonprofits.

This past year, our rural organizations have enjoyed building relationships and accessing the services of many statewide nonprofits who have come to communities around Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota to deliver trainings, introduce programs, build networks and share funding and other resources. With this partnership, the capacity and capabilities of everyone involved, both metro and rural, are enhanced.

Here are just a few of the statewide nonprofit organizations and initiatives that truly have “gone the distance” in bringing their services to rural nonprofits in recent months: Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Charities Review Council of Minnesota, Nonprofits Assistance Fund, Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration, HECUA’s Partners Internship Program, Women’s Foundation of Minnesota, Hunger Solutions of Minnesota, and African Development Center.

Calling other statewide nonprofits! May we at Bremer help you connect with our nonprofit constituents around MN, ND and WI?

I heartily encourage other statewide nonprofits to take advantage of this invitation. The resource specialists are great hosts and are well-respected nonprofits.
